This collage was created as a quick project for "Presentation techniques 3". Our task was to make a collage of a part of the city - Ljubljana. It should clearly represent area's atmosphere/history/character/story. We were allowed to use either scissors and paper, or digital tools.

I chose the Murgle surroundings, because of it's recognizably different approach to city housing urbanism. I also chose to do the collage by hand, just because I thought that that way I would impersonate the "socialist" spirit of Murgle even better.

The original design of the Murgle houses is the same, they just vary in length, but that is all. That's why I was stacking the paper roofs with chimneys one on another, to form the feeling of repetition or even uniformity.

Tree trunks serve as vertical elements, in order to emphasise small horizontal houses, and to represent the nature which, in Murgle, is brought closer to the people.

The car is the small addition which subtly suggests the decade when Murgle was built.

The colors used are warm, because of the materials (brick and wood) and also black and white, because of the era (no color tv).

The stripes with street names are transparent and put some order in the composition - just like streets which organise the housing urbanism into a clear system.
